Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre (GLMCC) is shocked and saddened to hear of the brutal murder of Conservative MP, Sir David Amess. Sir David died while serving the community that he was so proud to represent. Our sincere condolences and sympathies go out to the family and all those affected.

While details are still emerging, we encourage people to remain calm and await the full facts of the investigation.

Mohammed Saeed, Chair of Trustees at GLMCC commented:

“The appalling murder of Sir David Amess while serving and caring for his constituents is both shocking and deeply tragic. Sir David Amess dedicated his life to serving his community and constituents for almost 40 years. My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Sir David.

As we have seen in previous incidents, these acts are often carried out by those of an unsound mind or those seeking to sow hatred and disunity in our society.

We encourage everyone to show solidarity and counter the narrative of those seeking to spread hatred and cause division.”
