NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 10
TIME COMMITMENT: Flexible, based on event needs and volunteer availability, with volunteers expected to honour agreed event commitments.
LOCATION: Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre and other event locations when required

BACKGROUND TO GLMCC:

Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre is a leading UK mosque situated in the heart of Birmingham serving the community since 1979. Operating from its award-winning grade II listed Victorian building, GLMCC fulfils its mission of inspiring, educating and serving through its educational college, outreach work, welfare services, youth work, international humanitarian wing, as well as its fully functional mosque which is attended by thousands every week

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Dawah Events Volunteers support the delivery of GLMCC's adult Dawah programmes and events. This includes conferences, lectures, courses, seminars, retreats, overnight stays, Ramadan programmes and other Dawah activities. Volunteers will help ensure events are welcoming, organized and run smoothly.

2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE

Event Support

• Help set up and pack down event spaces.
• Welcome attendees, assist with registration, and support access to relevant event areas.
• Support attendee flow and direct attendees where required, particularly during larger events.
• Serve food and refreshments and help keep event areas clean and organised.
• Support overnight stays, residential programmes and retreats where required.
• Assist with hospitality for Shuyukh, speakers and guests, including setting up rooms, meals and refreshments.
• Help with microphones, recording and livestreaming where trained and appropriately briefed.
• Provide general practical support to the Dawah team during events.

Teamwork & Conduct

• Work well as part of a team and communicate clearly.
• Be reliable, punctual and committed when agreeing to support an event.
• Be flexible and willing to assist with different tasks.
• Demonstrate honesty, trustworthiness and good Islamic character.
• Follow GLMCC policies, Islamic guidelines and safeguarding procedures.
• Complete a DBS check where required, with the cost of the clearance covered by GLMCC.
