Meet the Team
Saeed is the Chair of Trustees, and is also the Director of a Travel Agency specialising in Hajj & Umrah. Saeed has a long affiliation to the Masjid and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Sajjad carries out the role of Treasurer, overseeing the masjid finances. Before this, he was working on youth services in his role as Head of Young Ummah. Outside the Masjid, he works for a multinational company and enjoys playing / watching sport.
Naeem combines his role as Trustee alongside being Head of the Dawah department. He has worked tirelessly over the past years to further the dawah work of the Masjid.
Alee has been attending Green Lane Masjid since 1990 after becoming a Muslim at University in London. His day job involves him being a Network and Security Consultant.
Responsible for the day to day running of the Masjid and its services including Facilities Maintenance. Amer is also head of Social Welfare which consists of the Funeral, Counselling and Zakat Services, Job Club, Food Bank and Faith Watch. Amer is very passionate about the Masjid and the driving force behind many of the community projects and services undertaken by GLMCC.
Qari Zakaullah is the Head Imam of the Masjid. After completing his Islamic Education, he worked in numerous roles before becoming the Imam of Green Lane Masjid in the UK. He memorised the Qur’an at a very young age and has lead the taraweeh prayers on numerous occasions. He has recently completed his Masters in Islamic Education from the Markfield Institute of Higher Education.
Shaykh Dr Ahsan Hanif
Born and bred in Birmingham, UK, Shaykh Ahsan is well known in his community as the young Qari who memorised the Qur’an at the tender age of 13 and who delivered regular halaqaat in Birmingham. In the year 2000, he gained a scholarship to enter the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing his Arabic diploma, he graduated from the Faculty of Shari’ah in 2006 with honours. He obtained ijazah in the Qur’an as well as studying under a number of well-known scholars, such as Sh. Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad and Sh. Muhammad ibn Muhammad Mukhtar al-Shinqiti.
Shaykh Ahsan has completed his PhD in Islamic Law from the University of Birmingham and is an Imam and khateeb at Green Lane Masjid.
Head of Young Ummah
Abid is leading on the planned launch of the GLM Scouts and is an integral member of the Celebrate Eid project. He is also part of Taskforce GLM and has helped project manage various fundraising events. A qualified optometrist, Abid brings a wealth of experience to the Masjid.
Responsible for overseeing the services provided to the sisters, by the sisters. Sister Amina is also part of the Dawah team as a sisters events coordinator, a volunteer in Taskforce GLM and a Zakat case worker in the Social Welfare department.
Office Administrator / Project Support
Integral part of the Central Admin team, providing support for admin and HR. Sister Anisa’s role also includes project support in addition to the day to day running of the Masjid. She also supports the Social Welfare department as a Zakat case worker. With her extensive experience in charity work she has joined Taskforce GLM as the sisters team leader. With a background is Dawah and teaching children Anisa is also a much loved teacher at Madrasah Salafiyyah.
Avid about health and safety he ensures all maintenance work required around the site is identified and carried out with utmost safety. With a site as large and active as GLMCC his team are ever occupied with tasks, they play a vital role in the running of the regular activities as well as the larger projects and events at GLMCC. Yusuf is also part of the funeral team as well as Taskforce GLM.
Manages the Dawah calendar and ensures that there is regular weekly, monthly and quarterly activities taking place with a focus on imparting beneficial knowledge and meeting the needs of the community. Ishfaq ensures that the speakers and topics are motivational and tackle contemporary issues as well as contribute in the personal development of individuals. He is also the Project Manager for Taskforce GLM’s Syria Bread Project and also assists in the Social Media department.
Operations/Head of Volunteers
Looks after the logistics of the events and services at GLMCC and ensures the safety and security of the congregation and all visitors to GLMCC. He is also the volunteers’ coordinator and ensures that the volunteers are given what they need to fulfil their roles and are motivated to continue to give their time for the sake of Allaah. Isse has also taken on the very sensitive and highly rewarding task of coordinating funerals.
Head of Madrasah & Youth Club
Sister Rizwana once a science teacher is now the Head Teacher of Madrasah Salafiyyah. She has revolutionised the running of the Madrasah and along with her team of administrators and teachers they have taken the Madrasah from strength to strength masha’Allaah. With her extensive experience in teaching and youth work she is also the Youth Club coordinator.
Admin and HR
Head of Central Administration and HR departments, Semir is also the supervisor of the Zakat case workers. Being a Zakat case worker himself he is passionate about this service and takes utmost care in ensuring that Zakat funds are distributed appropriately. With his Islamic knowledge and background in teaching he also stands in as an Imam and khateeb in the absence of our resident scholars and Imams.
Head of Social Media
As head of Social Media Zubair keeps the world informed with the latest events, classes and live action from GLMCC. He is responsible for ensuring all departments are contributing to the Social Media updates and in addition to updating all the social media accounts and collecting statistics he also keeps the main website updated with the latest projects.
