Introduction
The Prophet (Peace be upon him) was asked “Who is the best of people?” He replied... “The one who is most beneficial to others” (Silsalah Sahihah- Al-Albani 789/1)
Since Green Lane Mosque was established in 1979 it is clearly evident that the volunteers in this amazing organisation have been the lifeblood and the backbone upon which its foundations have been built and developed.
Exciting times are ahead Insha’Allah... GLM is evolving by providing new obligatory and non-obligatory services to the congregation and wider community.
At GLM we want our brothers and sisters to benefit from this blessed opportunity and become a GLM Volunteer. Anyone can volunteer irrespective of your skills, experience or background or how much time you have to give. Even if you have a couple of hours a week to spare it will be valued.
A GLM volunteer is a brother or sister who does something, especially to help other people within our congregation and community. You could make the difference in somebody’s life as well as your own. In the process you could potentially earn mountains of reward by pleasing Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala. through this noble action. So why not become an integral part of a successful team as your help will be your reward Insha’Allah. Remember...
The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) implored us not to be selfish, and instead, to have a spirit of love and giving! Saying:
“Truly the faithful are to one another like components of a building—each part supports the other.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) directs us to cooperate, support, and help each other. We are to do so to the fullest extent so that we build a strong and wholesome society. Each of us is a tiny part of a huge society and if strives to live Islamically, the society will reach a high level of excellence, justice, and brotherhood.
