Re: Poisoned Hearts – One Day Seminar 6th May 2012

Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre is proud to announce its latest seminar on countering extremism entitled ‘Poisoned Hearts’.  The one day seminar will feature prominent guest speakers, known for their expertise in this field, from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Kingdom.

Green Lane Masjid  has strived hard over the last decade to fight violent extremism, both from an Islamic perspective and as a civic duty.  The menace of extremism still exists in our society today. The Muslim community has worked tirelessly to fight such ideas and ideologies.

A media spokesperson from Green Lane Masjid said, ‘In our continuous drive to fighting extremism, our latest seminar will address many issues; including the history of extremism, terrorism today and deconstructing the extremist ideology, by some of the well know Islamic academics.  Extremist groups have tried to distort the clear and crystal light of Islam, by fanning fanatic and evil beliefs and acts which are contrary to Islamic teachings.

Islam is free of such ideologies and thoughts.  The Qur’an and the example of the Prophet Muhammad may the peace and blessings of God be upon him and all the Prophets of God and our pious predecessors , have clearly and unequivocally condemned such beliefs and acts.’

The aim and objective of this seminar is to enlighten and to educate our youth and the community as whole, about the destructive ideologies of extremists and terrorists.  As well as challenging common misconception, of extremist groups and parties.

[End 1st May 2012]
